How Your Heart and Your Hearing are Connected
Often people think of their heart health and hearing health as two separate issues, but they are connected in many ways. By healing your heart or your hearing, you can help heal the other. Here are some surprising facts about how your heart and hearing are connected!
BLOOD FLOW AFFECTS THEM BOTH
Everyone knows that blood flow is extremely important to heart health but did you also know that it is essential to your hearing? Good circulation plays a large role in maintaining good hearing health as well. On the opposite end, inadequate blood flow and trauma to the blood vessels within your ear can cause poor hearing and contribute to hearing loss.
EXERCISE CAN HELP
One key to being heart healthy and maintaining a heart-healthy weight is staying active and exercising often. Although some hearing loss is permanent and thus can be combatted with technology like hearing aids, studies show that some types of hearing loss can be improved with a cardiovascular exercise program.
ONE COMMON HABIT THAT CAN CAUSE BOTH
Smoking is all-around a negative habit for your health, but it is especially bad for both your ears and your heart. Smoking can lead to heart disease and hearing loss because it increases blood pressure and plaque buildup. These will eventually damage your organs by restricting blood flow (which we mentioned earlier was essential to good hearing and heart health). So, if you want to keep your hearing good and your heart strong, we highly recommend you kick that smoking habit!
